Woman Delivers Baby After Wreck on I-35
News

GARDNER, Kan. — A woman is in critical but stable condition after a wreck on Wednesday morning. Police say Nikki McClure was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on I-35 in Gardner.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the 33-year-old woman struck the back of a north-bound semi on I-35 near 167th Street. McClure was taken to an area hospital where she delivered a healthy baby girl. The accident is still under investigation, but police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the semi, which did not stop following the wreck.

Witnesses described the semi as a tractor and trailer with an enclosed box. There might also be a considerable amount of ice built up on it from traveling through snowy weather, and there is likely considerable damage to the semi’s rear-end protection system.

The Kansas Highway Patrol would like to talk to the driver and any occupants of the semi. Anyone with information is asked to call Lieutenant Tom Catania with the Kansas Highway Patrol at (913) 782-8100.
